Horses to Follow
- Sacred Crown
The chestnut gelding from the Simon Miller stable is a good money spinner for connections only missing a place twice from seven starts. He is a regular on city tracks and has been a shade unlucky at his past two starts. Look for him next time in the Aquanita colours.
- Éclair Mystic
The first crop of Stratum has hit the ground running and one of the best examples is the Smerdon trained Éclair Mystic. Since a third placing at his first start the gelding has gone on a winning rampage stringing together four victories in the metropolitan area. The last win at Flemington over 1400m suggests he may be able to run further as he matures.
- Skystreamer
A slowly maturing son of Fantastic Light this horse has risen through the staying ranks this preparation. In less than six starts Skystreamer has gone from maiden class all the way through to open company. His best result being a slashing win over 2500m at Moonee Valley. Has been well placed by Tony Vasil and another good win appears on the horizon before he goes out for his spell.

Around The Tracks
Queensland trainer Liam Birchley was hoping lightning would strike twice for his talented galloper Rags To Riches in the recent Easter Cup at Ellerslie in New Zealand. Before being transferred to Birchley, Rags To Riches was successful in the mile Group One Handicap way back in 2006. Four years later and the dose could not be repeated with Rags To Riches having to settle for a midfield result.
All in the Melbourne office were happy for staff member Daniel Moylan who recently married his fiancée Monika Bodey. The one small hitch in Daniels plan was that the event took place on Blue Diamond day with the nuptials set to clash with the feature of the day. A lesson for all prospective grooms who casually say they don't mind what day the wedding is.
The events calendar is hotting up with several big functions planned over the coming months. The annual owners day event at the Breakfast Creek hotel on the Sunday after the Stradbroke will again be on this year and look out shortly for details on a ladies lunch to be held in Melbourne before the Spring Carnival.
